Ha Giang loop is one of Vietnam’s top attractions, we offer to experience it differently, off the beaten path.

Ha Giang, known for its breathtaking landscapes, recognised by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage site, has seen rapid growth in tourism, making the classic tours overly crowded by big groups of tourists, heavy transport, and big trucks, all following the main road, experiencing the same pit stops, accommodations, and restaurants, and missing out the true authentic experience the beautiful loop has to offer. We are all locals, born and raised in the Ha Giang region, with more than 12 years of experience working in Ha Giang tours. Our goal is to create a unique trip and an opportunity to learn more about the Vietnamese culture and it’s fascinating variety of ethnic minorities- by trekking, cycling, and riding a motorbike, following mountain trails and side roads usually known only for the locals living here.

DAY 1: A FULL TREKKING DAY (HA GIANG – THON THA VILLAGE – XA PHIN RICE TERRACE: 16KM)

After eating breakfast in Ha Giang city, we depart to Thon Tha, a beautiful village of the Tay tribe, one of the area’s ethnic groups. From Thon Tha we begin the climb to Lung Vai village through palm tree fields and rice terraces along buffalo trails. On top of the mountain, we will see panoramic views of the small minority villages surrounded by jungle and rice terraces.

We will have lunch in a traditional house of the Black Dao people, by beautiful rice fields, mountains, and the smiling Dao girls in traditional costumes. After lunch, we continue to Xa Phin — another village of the Dao ethnic minority. Along the trail, we will visit one of the largest areas in northern Vietnam where people grow ancient green tea plantations. After the green tea fields, we will go into the bamboo forest, where you can feel the greenery, the fresh air, and the diversity of flora and fauna in the tropical forest.

Arriving to Xa Phin at around 5 PM, for a nice walk around the village to visit some very old traditional houses and enjoy the beautiful views of the rice terraces surrounding the area. prepare for the overnight Stay in Xa Phin village homestay, enjoy dinner with traditional food and talk with the host family about their life in the high mountains!
